Working
Cockers have always been bred for their physical soundness, as well as their
working abilities. Today they suffer from far less physical abnormalities
than any other gundog and a vet who also bred Working Cockers, was
reported to have said that he'd had the breed since 1948 and had never come
accross a single case of hip dysplasia. Another well known breeder also
said he had only come accross 3 cases of PRA and these seemed to be confined to
one bloodline.
It is well known among the show-bred Cockers for cases of bad temper and "cocker rage" to be seen, which seems to be more common in the blacks and goldens.

Luckily the Working Cockers seem to be free from these problems and generally have a pleasant temperament and are completely free from nervousness.
They also do not suffer from the other health problems more commonly associated with the show-bred dogs.
